Training programme for farmers under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseed (NMEO-OS)

Training programme for farmers under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseed (NMEO-OS) was successfully conducted on 10th April, 2025 at Sheanghah Wamsa village, Mon district. The primary objective of the training was to equip the farmers with sustainable techniques for pest management in groundnut and soybean cultivation. Additionally, the training included detailed guidance on identifying and managing potential outbreaks of Fall Army Worm in maize crop. The programme was chaired by Mr. H. Kaiwang Konyak (AFA). The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Sarhunyi Dukru, DAO, Mon. In his, address he emphasized the significance of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in achieving sustainable agriculture. Resource persons Dr. Watisenla Imsong (A.I) and Miss Arennungla Jamir (A.I) conducted the technical sessions covering key areas such as pest identification, cultural practices, biological control methods, and the safe and effective use of bio-pesticides. A discussion hour was followed during which farmers queries were addressed. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the village council chairman. The training successfully enhanced the farmers knowledge and skills in adopting sustainable pest management practices in groundnut and soybean cultivation, while also preparing them in advance to manage Fall Army Worm infestations in maize crops incase of outbreak.
