ORIENTATION OF OILSEEDS VALUE CHAIN PARTNERS AND DISTRICT MISSION DIRECTORS UNDER NMEO-OS
With the main objective to sensitized the Districts and Subdivision officers along with the service providers (VCPs) on implementation of National Mission On Edible Oils-Oilseeds on the revised operational guidelines, one-day orientation programme was conducted on 19th June 2025 at Directorate office, Kohima with participants from all the Districts, Sub-divisions and Service Providers.
Shri Sanuzo Neinu, Director of Agriculture in his keynote address highlighted on boosting domestic oilseed production in the state through the mission implementation and encouraged on tapping the potential of oilseeds crop cultivation and to promote traditional oilseeds suited to the agro-ecological conditions of the state and further stressed on the department commitment to working closely with District, VCPs and KVKS to identify suitable pockets for oilseeds cultivators, mobilized farmers and extend technical and financial support in line with the guidelines.
The revised operational guidelines on NMEO-OS was highlighted by Shri Sarhunyi Dukru Dy. Director stressing on the Setting up of District Oilseeds Mission, Roles and functions of Value chain partners (VCPs), Cluster areas for major and minor Oilseeds crops, Identification of eligible farmers in consultation with District Officers, Registration of Farmers in Krishi mapper apps, soil health testing and farmers training activities.
The Value chain partners were also briefed on allocation of districts based on crops for implementation under the mission. The orientation programme was chaired by Smti. Rosemary, Joint Director and Nodal officer of NMEO-OS. The day long programme was attended by 50 participants.
