Hon’ble MLA and Advisor of Agriculture engages with farmers

Hon’ble MLA and Advisor of Agriculture Shri Mhathung Yanthan undertook a visit to several villages coinciding with his journey to officiate as Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebration at Kiphire.

He was accompanied by Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) and several other Department Officers. The main objective was to engage with the farming community, understand their challenges, and encourages them in their agricultural pursuits. He visited Longmatra, Phuvkiu, Pungro, Luther, Salome and Moya villages, the main areas known for producing kholar, Millets, Maize, Job’s tears etc. During the visit he also inaugurated the new office building of SDAO Pungro in the presence of Shri S. Kiusemew Yimchunger, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Relief and Rehabilitation.

Hon’ble Advisor had discussions with the farmers and local leaders in all the villages where the main concern expressed was transportation and market accessibility for their produce. The visit was well received by the farming communities, who expressed their gratitude for his proactive approach. He also encouraged the farmers to adopt new agricultural modern techniques while preserving traditional farming practices to enhance productivity and sustainability.

His visit not only boosted the morale of the farmers but also reinforced the government’s dedication to the agricultural sector, ensuring continued growth and development in the State.
